Along a Burning River: A Comic Anthology of Ohio
Volume Two
Overview
Along a Burning River is an anthology based on Ohio-centric topics and myths. Like anywhere, Ohio has a rich history and mythology of the strange and noteworthy. We are looking to highlight some of that in comic form.
Our first volume was successfully funded on Kickstarter in November 2019 and while we tack on the finishing touches to that, we are looking to get a jump start on Volume Two.
We are looking for Ohio (born, bred, transplant, former resident…whatever) writers and artists to create short stories between 4 and 12 pages long. The story content should focus somehow on an aspect of Ohio history or legend or should have Ohio as a prominent part of the setting. You are free to write in whatever genre you would like. Please keep content PG-13 rated.

As a creator, you would fall into one of these four categories –
I would like to draw a story. I need a writer.
I would like to write a story. I need an artist.
I would like to both write and draw a story.
I would like to draw a pin up.
The story art will be standard comic size (6.625” x 10.25”) and in greyscale only. Pinups will be 11” x 17” and need to be done in both greyscale AND in color, as we will be using those for promotional prints on the Kickstarter campaign. We assume you will do your own lettering. If you don’t want to, though, we can letter your story for you.
Sales Model
Once the project is complete, we will be using Kickstarter to acquire the funding to print the book. If you are working as a creator on a story, we would ask that you promote the campaign to your fans. We will be reaching out to local media and comic stores leading up to the start of the campaign. We are looking for as much exposure as we can get on this.
Compensation
The creators of each story will receive 20 copies of the finished book. If you are writing and drawing the story, you would receive all 20. Otherwise, the copies will be split to 10 apiece for the writer and the artist. If the Kickstarter campaign goes especially well, we will up those numbers.
Pinup artists will receive 10 copies of the finished book.
Deadline
Writers Only – scripts are due by September 1, 2020.
Artists and Writer/Artists – final pages or pinups are due by November 1, 2020
